Shihan Harry Gorter
Started with the Martial Arts in 1976 and has been running dojo's from 1983. In 1977 he changed to Kyokushin Karate until about 1991. From 1989-1991, he had learnt Ashihara Karate at an instructor course and was in the first group of teachers to be certified to teach Ashihara in the Netherlands.
What is Sabaki?
In Ashihara Karate, Sabaki describes the movement made by a defender stepping out of line of an attack, into a position from which he/she can launch a counterattack. This controlled movement, is the basis of the strategy of Ashihara Karate: the combination of defence and offence into one … SABAKI.
Classes for All Ages
In the classes at Ashihara Gym, you will learn basic punches, kicks, and blocks. You will apply them in combinations, working with partners in controlled fighting situations. You will learn specific self-defence techniques - how to throw someone who grabs from behind, how to counter various frontal attacks.
